We ( our batch) of all people need a 'farewell, and parting ways with a proper goodbye does not hurt too much IMO ( now, i need those people who say stuff like ' we-won't-ever-drift-away-from-our-friends-and-we'll-stay-together-foreverandever' to rethink, do you all really mean it ?). I'm sure each one will go his/her own way when we get done on the 8th, and at best a few small groups might continue to stay together/in touch for a little longer.
And.. knowing our class's response to any form of group activity, a get-to-gether/reunion is most prolly' never going to happen. ( the first question that pops up when someone dares to suggest a group plan is 'why do it ?'.. okay.. no offense meant to anyone.. no fingers pointed at anyone, i'm just talking about the whole class ). So, this might well be our last chance to plan something together successfully and say our goodbyes properly. We kind of had a mini-farewell at college during the last few working days ( and it was fun with stuff like the guys coming out to share their thoughts in front of the class, the group pic sessions, the contact books writing etc. ) but then a lot of people were not present, and we had to endure all the constant shushing from the staff to keep things quiet, i even remember the HOD asking us to leave the campus and 'go someplace else' and there was no 'food'. Somehow that just does not qualify as a 'farewell' IMO, and ithink we need to treat ourselves to one good group event before we part.
Now, all this while i've ranted on about so much - the point i'm trying to make is - Let us have a proper farewell period
wot think ?
Now.. the reason i bring this all up is cos'.. 'we' were actually making plans for a farewell when it was suddenly shot down for (again) most people felt 'it' was 'unnecessary'. By 'we' i'm talking about this one 'ram kumar' who came up with this plan first, and even went around scouting for places for a farewell dinner ( which was later changed to a farewell lunch cos' a dinner would mean people would have to travel back a little late in the evening, and we were concerned about all the girls getting back home in time), finding out rates at different restaurants, checking out its halls. After all the effort he took, the guy got dejected when his nose was chopped clean and then he stopped trying.
Now, this is an attempt to revive the plan and give it one last shot before we drop it for good.
So here it is..
Lunch on 9th May- we'll find a well connected place with good enough food and a private hall , we all could eat together, try interacting for sometime and then get back to our usual peer groups, hang around for a while, get some proper group pics for keepsakes and for putting up on our orkut albums .. prolly' cut a cake, distribute some souvenirs ( if possible) etc. - the budget for something like this work out to around 200 per person approx.
