??????

hi friends...
Really very confused even to put a title to my post...!!!!

.......i just need some suggestions.so thought its better to write up a post than to go for asking friends individually in person for opinions....

so here it goes..just got an idea of doing higher studies,as u all know crisis is going and getting a fine job is big ??? i just want to know how good is that, doing higher studies in regular course and in correspondance...is there any priority given to those who do in regular than in corres..because many people whom i enquired suggest to do in regular.but i feel however we opt to study a "degree is always a degree"..is it not..give ur comments please.....so that it will be very useful

  1. i'm sure everyone'll have an opinion/POV on this, it'll be interesting to know all your plans for the 'future'. Future might even be too big a word, cos' we're talking about our plans for a month from now.

    Let the comment flood begin.

  2. higher study is best but college matters....i mean where you do(correspondence is not worth da).....did you applied for TANCET if you are not then do it

  3. @praveena: Doing Higher studies in correspondence cant get close to the regular course.. U will just have a degree certificate which has no worth.. Employers r not looking forward to those candidates now... Studying in a campus is a lot different... U r having age on ur side so u can go for regular college... Think before stepping into any stream because this will decide ur destination where u r going to reach in coming years...

  4. @ yugesh :ya i applied for it..

@ subash :ofcourse what u say is right but i don have a plan to study immediately..anyhow am going to opt for some job..thought that while i gain experience, i can even finish my studies along with it in two years na..

how u say that a degree is not worth if we do in corres ya.

@ guru :BTW suggestion for my question..which is gud u feel ah..

  5. @Praveena: What kind of higher studies ur going to do...?? I have enquired about doing MBA in corres to my friends and relatives who r currently in that field... they advised me to do in regular coll only... because it will give more exposure to that field.. that will be missed in corres...

  6. @praveena: long comment/post coming up after i;m done with the reviews.

@sajith: getting a 'job' is no big deal da, even in the current situation no one'll be without a job. We can always get a pretty decent non/semi-voice bpo job starting at 12k per month. But the point of this thread is something else.

  7. @ guru: after what reviews u mean to say...and wat ur comment means...but the point of this thread is something else"

@ sajith: hey,as guru said getting some job is easy these days..specially for guys there is no difficulty..you can go on for some bpo also for a while till u get a fine one.wat i meant is a job in our feild..something related to our degree.. is very difficult right

  9. he he he. Comedy discussion. k i'm now gonna pitch something which my expert did to me.

Having an MBA dream is not bad at all.
This can be the right time not the best(provided u get some good b school).
Not only u most people think tat an MBA or PG is their destiny at this point.
You know what, u become different only if u opt 4 something that most dont.
    Have a different idea. I can understand u r into a fix.
The only clever line i saw in ur post is "A degree is always just a degree".......

  10. @praveena: I was going to write a post/comment with my views after my project presentation gets done cos' i usally have a lot to say when it comes to topics like this.

And, when sajith spoke/made a joke about 'getting a job', i was telling him 'getting a job' was not the purpose of your post. but.. we were talking about the study ( regular vs. correspondence courses) vs. job choice.

@Sajith: I could make out your tone da. There was 'sarcasm' written all over it. And, btw it was 'funny'.. But, i was just pointing out that the topic of discussion was something else. ;) free a vidu..

@Paramesh: okay, first thought that comes up when i see your comment.. 'dude, you need to change the way speak'. I'm not just taking a dig at you here macha.., but.. i'm just telling you; you need to use a less 'in-your-face' tone when you talk/write.

About your part on MBA/studying ahead; i think i share slightly similar views. Mebbe you could write an extensive post and we could take it from there.. Wot say ?

btw .. welcome to the blog da.. sorry again about the evite mess up..

  12. hey prav.....wtever u do,opt 4 d best.....
i guess higher studies in regular wil b d best.......
ofcourse a degree s a degree bt a degree n correspondence wnt have as much value as a degree in regular course....
    nsted f pursuing M.B.A course u can opt 4 M.E..
as u knw students 4m both engg and non engg streams have aplied 4 M.B.A........
usually mnc companies demselves wil give u d opportunity to take up d M.B.A course while u work.....
so if ur family members dnt demand u 2 work,go 4 higher studies in regular course........
all d best 4 wt ever u do......;)

  14. hmmm... already you guys discussed a lot it seems.
i feel that if you opt for higher studies do an MBA. that would be fine and even in that the institution matters i suppose. doing a master degree wont work i feel unless you have the heart to do phD in that....so MBA in a renowned institution will be a better way.regular or correspondence really doesnt matter i feel!!

  15. IMO getting work-intensive degree like MBA etc. thru' correspondence is pointless.

A MBA course on paper might have a simple looking syllabus with semester wise theory papers.. but, the actual learning happens with the work you do with your peers at school/in the classroom and not with the papers you take up.

The group activities, the assignments, the events you get to plan/organize, the expert seminars, the panel discussions etc. make you a complete 'MBA'. A MBA thru distance education does not even come close to that experience.

That is woy it is so important to do a MBA at a proper b-school, and not even at a 'college'. Most colleges under AU follow the same UG-like pattern of 'out-of-date syllabus-pointless exams focussed on getting scores-internals crap'( some instis like SSN, PSG, Mepco Schlenk etc. are exceptions i hear, so when you take the TANCET make sure you make the cut for these few good colleges..)

If you choose to get an MBA done, i think you need to set your sights high.. take up CAT, XAT, SNAP this year or in '10. Prep well and aim for a good enough overall aggregate( you can forget the sectional cut-off's, cos' we're not looking to get into the IIM's). Pick up the list of top 50 b-schools in India, do your research, pick the schools you're interested in and start applying.

And till then rack up your people skills etc. by getting a challenging job, this'll also help you get ready for the mean GD/PI levels during MBA admission. Spend your time building a decent enough work profile till then, cos' i guess you have a good enough educational profile already.. That'll be the way to go.

    my 2 cents..

@ prasanth :i feel this is the right time to discuss things..and decisions are yet to be taken.

@ guru : yea ...even am in the same idea as you suggested..but then why this post and confusion is..i just got a thought why not MBA in corres..so i wrote up here to make myself clear..anyways thanks for the gud suggestion from ur side..

@ sajith & paramesh :thanks for commenting

@ naresh :i hope u will give suggestions related to post next time

  18. @praveena :oh comeon! i didnt say this is not the time to discuss it! i just meant that i joined in late for the discussion...! anyways dont worry too much about this.. keep it simple ! if you want to go on with the higher studies keep your mind only on MBA rather than ME . Aim for bigger B schools for this! thats it! hope u decide it soon
